The Vedas, Vedanta Sutras, Brahmana and the Upanishads all make up what is considered to be the pure knowledge or ‘Shruti’. And from this well of ‘Shruti’, Vastu Shastra has been broken down and simplified so that ordinary human beings in this hectic and harassed Kal Yuga may find a piece of the divine Garden of Eden. The main objective of Vastu Shastra is to do away with ignorance and suffering caused by not following the knowledge of correct living which has been written about in the Rig Veda, the Yajur Veda, Sama Veda and the Atharva Veda.
Ancient sages of India laid down several principles for constructing buildings taking advantage of the Pancha Bhootas namely Earth, Space, Air, Fire and water and the gravitational, magnetic effects and rotational influences of Sun to create balance and harmony between man and nature in the sceince of “Vastu Shastra. The main principle on which Vastu Shastra is founded is the worship of the Lords of the eight direction. If done properly the Gods would then shower the owner of the house or property with luck and blessings.
